Under the joint auspices of Kottapuram Integrated Development Society and Paravur Don Bosco Church, the Senior Citizen Sayam Prabha meeting started with the Holy Sacrifice at Paravur Don Bosco Church Parish Hall. KIDS Assistant Director Japson Kattuparampil delivered the keynote address and Coordinator Mr. Alan Sebastian gave greetings.
“Sayamprabha” caring the elderly
Series of meetings were organized at different places such as Azhikode, Manachery, Munambam, Methala, Anapuzha, Analikkad, Thuruthur, Kuruvillassery, Chettikkad, Kadalorathuruth, Mathilakam, Kottapuram, Paravur, Kotturathy, Kizhupadam, Kadavalthuruth, Madaplathuruth, VP Thuruth, Areepalam, Kurisinkal, Kara, Kootukad, Donbosco puram, Japamala, Chattanad, Eriyad, Gothuruth and Cheriyapally. Senior citizens with 60 years and above come together in a group to discuss, share their problem, sorrow and happiness among its members. On the occasion, cultural programmes such as singing, dancing, mono act and skit etc being put up by senior citizens. This platform was also used to observe days of importance like their birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other memorable events.
"SAYAMPRABHA", the Elderlies' SHGs are the most vibrant groups of KIDS Kottapuram. Their SHG anniversaries are celebrated with full enthusiasm where there is no place for physical weakness
Sayamprabha - Caring the Elderly:
Elderly people are being neglected and they are going through mental stress due to lack of love care and support. They are not accepted in the family any more but they are considered as liability rather than asset with rich experience and practical wisdom. Since 2004, project “Sayamprabha” has been conceived by Kottapuram Integrated Development Society (KIDS). Initially, it was evolved to address psycho socio problems of old age people badly hit by tsunami. Today over 40 peer support groups for the elderly has been formed and nearly 2500 members between the age group of 60 -90 are its active members.

“Sayamprabha, an aging group of Kottapuram Integrated Development Society, held meetings at Kadalpathuruthu and Madaplathuruthu areas. After the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Gilbert Anthony Thatcheri addressed the members. About 50 members attended the meetings, which were held in accordance with the Covid-19 standards.

Congratulations to Mr. Clement, who excelled in sports, and to Mrs. CC Roy, who completed the manuscript of the Bible. 35 Sayamprabha members participated.
