This sector has become very active in 2014, partially because of the International Year of Family Farming. Since KIDS has initiated a campaign to against cancer, the Director of KIDS has taken it as a mission to spread the family farming with due importance. During the year, many times, KIDS distributed various seedlings to the SHG members, Children’s Poomottukal group and parishioners in order to Sponsors from S.T.I.L.L.A R.B Scheme beneficiary20promote a kitchen garden for every house. KIDS is closely associated with the Krishi Vijnan Kendra, Mannuthi, Thrissur and Social Forestry, Chalakudy. Many families had benefited from this campaign. KIDS had also produced a lot of vegetables especially cauliflower cabbage, tomato and chilies.
The Natural Resource Management department aims at promoting activities that regenerate environmental resources. The department gives utmost importance to the rejuvenation of the organic processes that interconnect the dynamics of biodiversity, soil, and water resources. Extensive efforts for the eco-restoration are done by husbanding and nursing life support systems back to health;, namely land, water and biomass of the area, which were degraded through misuse and/or overuse. These efforts include: Rainwater harvesting systems Rejuvenation of wells through backwashing (a form of water treatment) Revitalization of ponds through phytoremediation (the treatment of environmental problems through use of plants) Planting of mangroves through community participation.
