Agriculture and Natural Resource Programs
The activities of Kottapuram Integrated Development Society, the implementation support agency of Jaljeevan Mission Project, have started in Venkitang Gram Panchayat of Thrissur District. Under the auspices of Guruvayur Water Authority officials, a Panchayat level awareness programme was organized in Venkitang Gram Panchayat under the chairmanship of Panchayat President Mrs. Chandini Venu. KIDS Assistant Director Rev.Fr. Japson gave an introductory speech followed by Jaljeevan Mission Coordinator Ms. Nakshatra N Nair also explained about the further work of ISA.

A small kitchen garden for KIDS

This is a small idea that arose in the mind of Rev.Fr Varghese Kattasherry, Assistant Director of KIDS. Seedlings of Venda, Tomato, chilli and Katrika have been planted. Keeping the idea of a large kitchen garden in mind, this is a small model for that.

Another provision with hope for the next generation.........

On the occasion of June 5th Environment Day celebration, Sayamprabha members planted trees with hope for the future generation in the Sayamprabha meeting held at St. Thomas Kodungallur, Kothaparam Church under the leadership of KIDS. KIDS Executive Director Father Paul Thomas Kalathil, St. Thomas Church Sayamprabha members, KIDS staff members and animators were present on the occasion.

SAPLING DISTRIBUTED

Protecting the environment is not just a day-to-day event. With the realization that the life of the next generation and the survival of the earth is in the hands of the new generation, under the leadership of Kottapuram Integrated Development Society, and Anappuzha Paliyamthuruth L. P. Organized awareness program and sapling distribution for children of school and Anapuzha Anganwadi.

WORLD WATER DAY 2021

KIDS conducted World Water Day programme. Presidential address was delivered by Fr. Paul Thomas Kalathil (Director of KIDS Kottapuram). On this occasion an awareness class was led by Mrs. Gracy Joy (Coordinator of KIDS). Social Work students conducted a Skit based on the importance of the water and prepared a poster on the theme of “Valuing water.”

ENVIRONMENTAL DAY CELEBRATION 2021

The World Environment Day was observed at KIDS campus. On this special day, fruit saplings were planted at different places in KIDS campus. Director Fr. Paul Thomas officially inaugurated the day by planting a tree. Staff and members of the Self-Help Groups were present on this occasion.

VEGETABLE SEEDLINGS DISTRIBUTION

In cooperation with Snehamritham Project, KIDS promotes organic vegetable farming. The programme aims to encourage organic farming among rural populace in order to prevent lifestyle diseases. During the period of pandemic, vegetable seeds were planted at KIDS centre and 1000 vegetable saplings were distributed free of cost to the people. The project was implemented with the support of Indo American Hybrid Seeds, Karnataka supported by Dr. KV Peter, former Vice Chancellor, Kerala Agricultural University and one of the members of Governing body of KIDS.

Energy conservation day observed

Energy conservation day was organized at Valappad Chandappady junction and at Azhikode on 13th- 14th December 2019 respectively. Audience included general public like shop owners, workers union employees, auto drivers, laborers, business men, government officials, private employees, pedestrians and customers. Over 600 persons signed after taking pledge on energy conservation.Signature campaign was mobilized commitment of people towards the cause. Energy conservation message containing do’s and don’ts were distributed to all.

Celebrated world environment day

On 5thof June, 2019 world environment day was observed with diversified activities. This time Poomottukal the children’s group took initiative to observe the day in a meaningful manner. More than 100 children with the objective to protect environment through mobilizing the general public towards this cause, tree plantation campaign was organized in different parts of Thrissur and Ernakulam districts.

Observed world earth day

On 22nd of April, 2019 world earth day was observed with cleanliness drive at colleges, community settings such as beaches and market hubs. Members of various community based organizations felicitated events in their locality. In which KIDS staff and assistant director Fr. Jose Olattupurath participated. Hundreds of student volunteers actively participated in cleaning drive followed by public gathering.

OBSERVED WORLD ENERGY CONSERVATION DAY

In order to mark world energy conservation day series of events such as rally, street play, and poster competition were organized in different panchayat and Iringalakuda municipality. Panchayat and municipality representatives, professionals and religious leaders from all communities participated in the rally and public gathering in big way.

SAMRIDHI - FARMER’S DAY CELEBRATION

Farmers’ day was celebrated with enthusiasm and vigor. This was held on the auspicious day i.e. on the first day of the month of Malayalam calendar Chingam. Samridhi in Malayalam means abundance. Farmer’s day celebration marked a seminar coupled with agriculture faire. It was inaugurated by Fr. George Vettikkattil, Director of Kerala Social Service Forum (KSSF) and presided over by Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Karikkassery, Bishop of Kottapuram. It was an opportunity for women to show case and sell green vegetables produced in their residence which is cultivated purely based on natural farming method.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

KIDS conducted various programmes to protect the nature and environment.The focus was more on awareness building on the importance of keeping the surroundings clean and practically cleaning the dirty surroundings in the locality and planting more trees. Saplings of various useful trees were distributed and planted. The main feature of the ‘WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2017’ was the programme called “CLEAN MISSION 2017” which was meant to collectively clean all the place where dirty waters are being collected and has become the place for the mosquitoes to grow and multiply

World earth day

KIDS has organized an awareness rally on protecting our mother earth which concluded with a public gathering in the Cheraman Juma Masjid, where we symbolically planted a tree.

URJAKIRANAM

The objective of the program has been to create awareness among the general public and equip them for efficient management of all forms of energy, to promote energy efficiency and energy conservation and to develop new sources of energy as well as novel energy technologies with a view to increasing production and facilitating the use of energy on a sustainable basis. KIDS grabbed the opportunity and signed the MoU with EMC.

Go Electric Campaign

In collaboration with the Centre for Energy Management and the Centre for Environment and Development, Kottapuram Integrated Development Society (KIDS) has launched the Campaign 2020 for the residents of Kodungallur. Energy conservation rally, energy conservation pledge, signature collection and awareness class with the message of Go Electric Campaign were also arranged.

Urja Kiran 2021 -22 District Level Awareness Campaign

The Urja Kiran 2021 -22 district level awareness campaign led by the Kottapuram Integrated Development Society (KIDS) in collaboration with the Energy Management Center-Kerala (EMC) in collaboration with the Thiruvananthapuram Center for Environment & Development (CED) to educate the people on the need for energy conservation and ways to do so. The awareness class was organized for women entrepreneurs with the message of Go Electric Campaign aimed at women empowerment. Adv. Sunil Kumar (MLA,Kodungallur Constituency) inaugurated the meeting.

Celebrated World water day

Water supply from Chalakudy River to the Kerala Jalasabha and Kerala River confluence to be held on March 22 in Thiruvananthapuram as part of the World Water Day celebrations under the auspices of Jal Jeevan Mission was organized by the Kottapuram Integrated Development Society. People's Representative Mrs. Sindhu Naveen, KIDS Executive Director Fr. Paul Thomas Kalathil. Thrissur District ISA representatives, KIDS staff members and S H G activists were present.

The street play was organized as part of the World Water Day celebrations.

Kottapuram Integrated Development Society, Chendamangalam Grama Panchayat and Jal Jeevan Mission jointly organized a street play as part of the World Water Day celebrations. In view of the need for water conservation, the street play was organized under the theme "Let's have a drink of water".Kottapuram KIDS is the official implementing agency of the Jaljeevan Mission, a joint venture between the Central and State Governments. Street plays were also performed in Thrissur Pawaratti and Venkidang Grama Panchayats.

Coastal Biodiversity Conservation Zone inaugurated

Under the joint auspices of Kottapuram Integrated Development Society, Kerala Social Service Forum and Eriyat Grama Panchayat in collaboration with the conference Episcopal Italiana ,the Coastal Biodiversity Conservation Zone innagurated by Shri. Tyson master (MLA, Kaipamangalam). The first phase of the project will see the planting of 1400 windmills. Coastal areas are prone to natural disasters such as tsunamis, hurricanes, coastal erosion and rising sea levels. Kerala has lost more than 500 meters of coastline in the last 10 years. Coastal protection zones are natural or man-made structures that can decompose and deflect the energy / strength of wind and waves and protect the lives and property of coastal peoples from disasters.

Celebrated World Earth Day 2022

Kottapuram Integrated Development Society and Kottuvalli Grama Panchayat jointly celebrated World Earth Day 2022. Rally, Pledge and Theme Dance were performed on Earth Day.
