Karkitakamasa Dinacharnanam

As part of the Karkitakamasa Dinacharnanam , programms were organized at Deepthi Federation Kara, Holy Mary Federation Gothuruth and Anugara Federation Thurutthur. Rev. Fr. Anthony Arakkal, Rev. Fr. Vipin Mudalamparambi, Mr. Jomi Josi (Ward Member, Gothuruth) Shri. Dui John (Ward Member, Puthanvelikara Gram Panchayat), Asha workers, animators and others participated in the programme.

Karkitkamasadinacharanam 2022

“Karkitkamasadinacharnam Celebration – 2022” was organized under the leadership of Community Health Department of Kottapuram Integrated Development Society (KIDS). The meeting was presided over by Rev.Fr.Paul Thomas Kalathil, Executive Director of KIDS. Ayurveda Doctor Ms. Anilsha Lalan, (Senior Poomot Member of KIDS), inaugurated the meeting. A seminar was conducted by Dr. Siri Suraj on the importance of Karkidakamasa Day, which was followed by an exhibition about the Ingredients of Karkidaka Kanji and also it’s was distributed. On the occasion, awards were also given to the children of the staff members who had secured high marks in the SSLC and Plus Two examinations. 115 SGH members participated in the function.

Hair Donation and Lung Cancer Awareness Programme 2020

As part of cancer care campaign, KIDS organised hair donation camp and lung cancer awareness programme by maintaining the COVID-19 protocol. The month of November is observed as the Lung cancer awareness month. As part of creating awareness, KIDS made leaflets about lung cancer and distributed it to volunteers. The major intention of KIDS was to create awareness among the rural folks about lung cancer. KIDS also conducted a hair donation camp and honoured the caregivers and volunteers by recognising their invaluable contributions to the family and society.

Health and Home on Wheel

The project aims at giving mobile services for health and home assistance.
Snehamritham – Mobile Mammogram Unit is the first breast cancer detention program to reduce the risk of cancer patients by providing early diagnosis of cancer. This charity project for cancer patients was inaugurated by Rt. Rev. Dr Joseph Karikkassery, the Bishop of Kottapuram diocese in the presence of Kerala Social Service Forum Director Rev. Fr. Jacob Mavungal. The mobile mammogram unit was actualized with the help of Conferenza Episcopa Italiana (CEI). The St. Francis Assisi Church in USA also provided financial assistance for the realization of this project.


In collaboration with Habitat for Humanity India and Punarjani Paravur, KIDS initiated the mobile service unit in order to provide services such as house planning, materials for house construction at affordable rate and to ensure the services of PMAY project of Government of India.Along with the Mobile Mammogram unit, a cancer detection medical camp was conducted to provide basic information about the preventive measures of cancer.

Karkidamasacharanam(aayush)-for health care promotion

With the aim of promoting good health practices based on ayurvedic and herbal methods aayush was observed in the month of “Karkkidakam” according to Malayalam calendar. Series of events were organized in different villages of Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram districts where in hundreds of thousands community members benefited. The program was aimed at creating awareness among general public especially among women about effective way for maintaining good health by practicing indigenous herbal treatment.


Conducted cancer detection camp

Free cancer detection cum general medical camp was organized at our lady of perpetual help church Chendamangalam. Camp was organized at parish hall under Snehamritham and Ashakiranam project supported by Caritas India, Can Care and SNIMS, Chalakudy. During this camp, more than 200 persons were given free medical checkup for early detection of cancer. Professionally experienced doctors examined women and those who were detected with cancer symptoms were referred to medical college for further tests and treatment.


Refurbished houses handed over to flood survivors

KIDS organized a meeting to hand over refurbished house key to beneficiaries of under Athijeevan project supported by CRS Andhra- Telengana and Shamsadabad Diocese,Charity sisiters,United Way Bangalore, Habitat for Humanity India and Caritas India.


Organized Free Cancer Detection Camp 2018

Medical camp was organized at St. Thomas Latin Catholic Church, Azhikkode for the women and children from backward communities. Health checkup and medicines were given free of cost. Medical team comprised of a qualified male doctor and a lady doctor, nurses, social workers and heath


Campaign for Eliminating Usage of Plastic Items 2016

With the support of energy management centre and centre for environment and development, a campaign was held in coordination with Cheraman Juma Masjid. During this campaign, problems faced by usage of plastic bags were discussed in length. Event helped to disseminate information about harms of using plastic and how it affects our ecological system. A street play was put up by college students on the theme of environment besides a painting competition for school children.


AYUSH: Observing Malayalam Calender Month Karkkidakam 2018

Observing World Anti-Tobacco Day 2018

World tobacco day was observed on 29th May 2018 at Kara, Puthiyaroad. More than 300 participants who attended programme became committed to fight against tobacco addiction. Speakers on this occasion enlightened, participants about health hazardous caused by tobacco consumption. For Okhi relief and rehabilitation work for surviving families KIDS Director donated Rs.210000/- to Mr.A.P Adarsh, panchayat president, Edavilang. The amount will be utilized for housing foundation laying work for the needy people.


Clean Mission 2017

A special programme was organized to fight against the spread of these diseases and also to prevent the growth of mosquitoes. We conducted the programme in 10 places simultaneously.


World Health Day 2016

KIDS Kottapuram organized awareness classes and a street play in St. Mary's School Krishnankotta & Kodungallur regarding the health precautions.


Plastic Bag Eradication Movement 2016

KIDS has been striving hard to conscientize people, to stop the ‘plastic kit culture‘ (the non- degradable) through awareness programmes and demonstrations through street plays in various Federation meetings and Self Help groups giving emphasis on how to save the health of the coming generations. As a result, the Self Help groups of KIDS came forward own their own, to fight against to conduct awareness programmes demonstrating the dangers of using cheap plastic kits for food packing. KIDS gave full support to organize these programmes. In those places, cloth bags were distributed to replace the use of plastic kits for purchasing food materials, as a preventive measure for curtailing the spreading of cancer. The local Government officials were invited for all these meetings, so that actions would be taken on local administrative level in order to tackle the problem.

In collaboration with the Habitat for Humanity India, as part of the Indo Star CSR project,KIDS Kottapuram has constructed two toilets for St.Mary’s High School, Pallipuram.

With the help of Caritas New Zealand, Kottapuram Integrated Development Society and Caritas India jointly distributed medical kits and hygiene kits to children at St. Anne's High School, Kottapuram St. Joseph's High School Chattadam and St. Mary's High School Church Port.
