KIDS’ Consolation At The Time Of Covid-19

Kottapuram Integrated Development Society is the social service organ of the Kottapuram Diocese. KIDS is the face of the diocese of Kottapuram, which has been working with the people for the last 32 years for the upliftment of the poor. Fr. Paul Thomas Kalathil, Director of KIDS, is coordinating the activities during Covid 19. KIDS could reach people to address their various needs on time. During this pandemic KIDS did marvellous works for the society.

Best Practices During Lock Down

  • The lockdown happened due to Covid 19 outbreak challenged the education sector in several ways. The entire education system was converted to online mode and resulted in creating confusion and mental stress among students as well as their parents. The psychosocial support provided by KIDS helped in reducing the stress level and to manage other practical problems related to it. This was one of the best and novel practices started during the period of Covid.
  • KIDs started a tailoring unit to stitch medical equipment in order to provide employment and stable income for 40 women who were facing financial constraints due to the pandemic.
  • We were able to distribute kits in a creative manner as we had to maintain social distance. We collaborated with local leaders and other government officials which helped us to enhance our coordination skills.
  • The volunteers gained the capacity to use the Personal Protection Equipment on a regular basis.
  • The team identified that many people in our society are struggling to survive this unpredicted situation and there is a large population who are in need of immediate assistance.

Free Vaccination Camp

Kottapuram KIDS, Rotary Club Kodungallur Center and Kerala Police Highway Safety Committee jointly organized a free vaccination camp at KIDS Campus on 14-10-2021.Rotary President.Fr. Babu presided over the meeting . KIDS Director Rev. Fr. Paul Thomas officiated the inauguration. KIDS Assi. directors, Rev. Fr. Neil George chadayamury, Fr. Varghese Kattassery were present.
