TAILORING UNIT
Kottapuram Integrated Development Society aims to build self-reliant communities. This can be achieved only through the economic and social empowerment of women. To make women economically stable, it is essential to avail more employment opportunities. By upholding this vision KIDS started a tailoring unit by providing job to 60 women.
Tanmaya Stabilizer Unit
In 2014 April, Tanmaya Stabilizer Unit began in Poyya was blessed by His Grace Dr. Joseph Karikkassery. Around 40 women are working in this Unit.The following celebration were also held in KIDS were : Easter Programme, Onam Celebrations, Gandhi Jayanthi, Keralapiravi, X’masprogramme, Human Rights Day, World International Handicapped children day, International Human Right s day observation
Tamarind unit
KIDS Kottapuram tamarind unit was established on February 11, 2019, the unit mainly focused on working for the empowerment of women by paying daily wages and currently 140 women work in the unit. The products of this unit are exported to the markets with the support of intermediaries and it is one of the efficient units of KIDS Kottapuram.
Bubbles Day Care organised
Bubbles Day Care was inaugurated by the Director of KIDS, Rev. Fr. Paul Thomas performed on the field. CDS Vice Chairperson Mrs. Shalini welcomed the gathering. Nadathara Panchayat Vice President Shri. P.R. Rajith presided over the function. The meeting was presided over by Councilor Mrs. Sheeba Babu and was graced by Mr. PK Abhilash, Chairman, Development Standing Committee and Mrs. Sherlyn Michael, Kids Co-ordinator.Field Activities
Self Help Groups are the focal point of all activities of KIDS. Amidst Covid 19 pandemic the Self-Help Group meetings were retained for a short period. Currently the regular meetings have started by keeping Covid protocol. The SHG group meetings were organized at their own localities in the presence of KIDS’ coordinator and animators.
Provided Poultry Rearing Assistance to Widows
Poultry rearing assistance to widows was provided as part of the Nurture Project organized by the Kerala Social Service Forum and the Kottapuram Integrated Development Society. Poultry rearing assistance was provided to 5 widows who were beneficiaries of the Nurture Project. KIDS Assistant Director Rev. Father Varghese Kattassery inaugurated the distribution.Meetings
Awareness Seminar under the leadership of Madaplathurut Federation
An awareness seminar was held under the leadership of Madaplathurut Federation involving SHG and Kudumbashree members. Mr. Laiju Joseph (Ward Member, Vadakkekara Gram Panchayat), Shri. Nitin Kumar (Ward Member, Vadakkekara Gram Panchayat), Gram Panchayat CDS and ADS members were present in the programme.
Annual Day celebration of Alphonsa SHG Methala
Annual Day celebration of Alphonsa SHG Methala was held on 14/8/2022. Rev. Fr. Paul Thomas Kalathil (Director, KIDS), Rev. Fr. Joseph Olattupuram (Parish priest), Mr. Vincent Chirayath, Mr. Joseph Chathanad, Mr. K.T.George (Diocesan leaders - KLM) were presented on the occasion.
Conducted health awareness programme for the Federation members
A health programme was conducted under the leadership of Kalavaturut Karuna Federation Smt. Rekha (Junior Public Health Nurse, JPHN,) Shri. Shaji (Junior Health Inspector JHI), from Goturuth Health centre given classes on World Breastfeeding Week.
The annual celebration of Sneha Mata Federation Cheriya Pallanduruth was held. KIDS Director Rev.Fr. Paul Thomas distributed the prizes to the winners of the sports competition. Those who completed 65 years of age and completed 25 years in the Federation were honoured with a memento. Ward member participated in the program. Animator Mrs. Usha Joseph presided over the programme.
The meeting held a review of the activities of the promoters during the month of June.
KIDS Co-ordinator Alan Sebastian conducted the class on the theme of Personality Development.
CUSTOMER CARE AND AWARENESS MEETING FOR SELF-HELP GROUP MEMBERS
In collaboration with BCSBI and Bank of India, Kottapuram, one day training was organized for the members of self-help group. The objective of the meeting was to provide information about services and schemes available in the bank for the customers. During the session, resource person Rtd. Chief Manager, Mr. K.V.N. Namboothiri explained about different services opened to the customers. It was organized for settling grievances of SHG members regarding smooth transactions and accessing services and benefits.
SIMPONIYA : WIDOWS MEET
Together with Kerala Social Service Forum (KSSF) we organized “Simponiya” a meeting of widows below 50 years. More than 125 widows participated in the class lead by Fr. Rajeev, OCD. During the course of discourse resource person explained how to deal with sudden loss of partners and utilize time meaningfully, ways and means of looking after family as single parent.
SHGS UNDERTAKE INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITIES
In order to start income generating activities SHGs were helped with loan facilities. They were financially assisted to start different income generating activities by lending them loan. The loan amount was passed by Kerala State Backward Class Development Corporation (KSBCDC).
Animators
The monthly meetings for the animators, promoters and leaders are carried out regularly. Every month a special them, relevant to the time is taken and resource persons from outside and invited to take classes for them. Awareness on Digital Literacy, Financial Literacy were also given taking into account the changing scenario of social life.
Sadbodhana Leadership Training Programme
This year we had trained 40 leaders in the Sadbodhana Leadership Training programme. As in the past, each month very relevant topics. Certificates were distributed to the participants who completed the course successfully and passed the examinations.
The Media Women Power Award 2022
Mis. Dimble Rose Anson, eminent YouTuber and Cine Artist from Kottapuram KIDS, received the Media Women Power Award 2022 from the Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council from the Kerala Social Service Forum as part of the World Women's Day celebrations.
Animators Meeting Was Held
Animators meeting was held under the leadership of Kottapuram Integrated Development Society (KIDS). Classes were organized on the topics of Omicron, Postpartum Depression, and Resource Utilization. Habitat's field head inspections were conducted at Gothuruth, Kadalvathuruth, Pallipuram and Madaplathuruth villages.

Training
Digital Literacy for all
With the support of the TATA Consultancy, Mr. Markus from bruder schwester, Infopark, Kochi were able to conduct a Digital Literacy course of one week for the Animators as well as other SHG members. The purpose was to bring the digitally illiterate women to the main stream and digital literacy has become part and parcel of our daily lives.
SATBODHANA - LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMME
In order to empower women self-help group members and Kudumbashree members, KIDS organized leadership training in collaboration with Gram Panchayat, Poyya. Leadership training cum personality development programme for the members being conducted. During the course of one year training women have been trained in topic such as effective communication, personality development, leadership and social commitment, participatory learning through action, project planning, mental health, social audit along with field visits are covered. KIDS organizes Leadership Training every year and through the training, many women came in to leadership roles in legislative and other organizational platforms
Conducted leaders training programme
One day training was organized for community leaders. More than 40 leaders benefitted out of this training. Programme was organized at KIDS campus and chief resource persons were students of Social Work from Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery.
Kudumbashree/ SHGs members trained
One day training programme for Kudumbashree/ SHG members participated held at KIDS campus. Topics covered were data entry, death claim, scholarship, ayurvedic production and marketing. Ongoing livelihood projects were reviewed.
Satbodhana - Leadership training programme:
In order to empower women self-help group members and Kudumbashree members, KIDS organized leadership training in collaboration with Grama Panchayat, Poyya. Leadership training cum personality development programme conducted as a regular activity. During the course of one year training women were trained on topics such as effective communication, personality development, leadership and social commitment, participatory learning through action, project planning, mental health, social audit along with field visits were covered. Training was very effective for inculcating leadership skills among all participants. It transformed women to be committed community leaders working in the mainstream.
Kudumbashree members graduated
A one week training was organized 0n February, 2020 at Puthukkadgramapanchayat office for kudumbashree members (VthBatch) on the topic, day care running and management. Resource persons Sr.Daisy from KIDS and coordinator Mr.Shivan from block dealt sessions on various topics in an interesting manner. Participants’ graduated included 27 women belonging to the same gramapanchayat. Post training evaluation revealed that kudumbashree members were equipped with knowledge and skills to run day care centre effectively. Majority of them were able to start day care centre as a means of livelihood.
Banana Handicraft Training
KIDS trainers Rita and Mary lead a banana handicraft training class for members of the Haritha Karma Sena in the Paravur block under the Ernakulam Kudumbasree District Mission at Kottuvalli Grama Panchayat Hall.
Skill Motivation Class
Skill Motivation Class for KIDS Data Entry Training conducted by KIDS Co-ordinator Alan Sebastian for Kudumbasree members in Paravur Block under Ernakulam District Mission. Mr. Shyam V.S, KIDS Staff Member, conducted a Data Entry Course for Kudumbasree Members in Paravur Block, Ernakulam District under the auspices of Kottapuram Integrated Development Society. Taking Data Entry (Malayalam) class.
Classes Were Organized
The classes were organized as part of the second phase of community level workshop organized by Fair Trade Forum India Southern Region in collaboration with Kottapuram Integrated Development Society (KIDS) as part of the STREE Project. Four community facilitators successfully completed 9 training sessions for 140 members. Classes were conducted on Design Thinking, Leadership Quality and Marketing.
Entrepreneurship training provided by Kottapuram KIDS at Thiruvilvamala Buds School under Thrissur Kudumbasree District Mission.
Day Care Training
The conclusion ceremony of the “Day care training” for Kudumbasree members in various panchayats under Thrissur Kudumbasree District Mission held. The meeting was inaugurated by Mrs. Sini Pradeep, Chairperson, Thrissur Ollukkara Standing Committee. Block Co-ordinator Mrs.Chitra .Rev. Fr. Beyon, Assistant Vicar of the Sacred Heart Latin Church, Thrissur addressed the gathering.
Water Hyacinth Handicraft Training
Kottuvalli Grama Panchayat President Shri. K.S Shaji inaugurated the Water Hyacinth handicraft training conducted by Kottapuram Kids for the members of Haritha Karma Sena in Kottuvalli Panchayat, Paravur Block, Ernakulam District under the Ernakulam Kudumbasree District Mission. KIDS Director Fr. Paul Thomas greeted the audience and distributed the toolkit. CDS Chairperson Mrs. Bindu presided over the meeting. Health Standing Committee Chairman Sebastian, Development Standing Committee Chairman Biju Pazhampilly, 14th Ward Member Jamal and KIDS Asst. Director Fr. Varghese Kattassery, Kudumbasree Block Coordinator were present.
